PARIS — Suzuki sold just over 233,000 cars and SUVs in Europe between January and November 2006, making it number four among Japanese automakers in Europe.
The company intends to nearly double that volume by 2011, according to published reports. For 2008, Suzuki will introduce a production version of the Splash concept that was unveiled at the 2006 Paris auto show. This new minicar will be produced at Suzuki's Hungarian facility, where capacity will be expanded to 300,000 units by the end of 2007.
Suzuki also plans to introduce other new models in Europe, including a mini SUV in 2009 and an upper-midsize car two years later. Also, the China-built sedan version of the popular SX4 will appear in Europe by 2008.
