Toyota's concepts are always worth a close look, and the FT-HS is no exception. There aren't many manufacturers even contemplating a 400bhp hybrid sports car, let alone making it to the road.
The two-plus-two concept is a front-engined, rear-wheel-drive sports car that would seem to neatly fill the hole left by the much-missed Supra, although Toyota is denying it's the prototype for the fifth generation of the modifiers' favourite.
The Toyota FT-HS is powered by a hybrid 3.5-litre V6 with a rumoured output of more than 400bhp, and Toyota's engineers reckon it should crack 60mph in the four-second bracket - and that's before the bonkers Japanese modifiers get their hands on it.
With a triangular profile and floating C-pillar, the FT-HS looks defiantly Japanese alongside all the retro Yank metal in Detroit.
We like the look of that futuristic cockpit, with its telescopic hubless steering wheel. Pity about the flappy paddles, though - they're the future, apparently.
